Ben Elkins Discusses Running AireBeam and Utah Broadband as CEO for Both on Connected Nation Podcast

Elkins Sheds Light on Why Both AireBeam and Utah Broadband Are Growing Providers of Parent Company Boston Omaha Broadband

AireBeam and Utah Broadband CEO Ben Elkins appeared on Connected Nation’s podcast on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, to discuss the growing fiber-to-the-home and fixed wireless Internet service providers’ work respectively in Arizona and Utah. Elkins appeared on Connected Nation in late 2023 when he was solely the CEO of AireBeam. At the end of 2024, Elkins assumed the additional role of CEO of Utah Broadband.

The Connected Nation podcast, hosted by Jessica Denson, is an award-winning series focused on broadband, which is part of the Connected Nation nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to high-speed Internet for all.

During this episode, Elkins focused on the differences and similarities of both ISPs. He discussed how AireBeam serves smaller towns and rural communities in Arizona while Utah Broadband’s services focus on the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, making service offerings and customer support different. He also suggested that regardless of demographics and service area, the two ISPs pride themselves on maintaining consistency in providing outstanding customer service, showing they care and being part of the community.

“While AireBeam and Utah Broadband certainly serve distinctly different markets,” Elkins said. “The core similarity of attentive customer service and community involvement show we genuinely care about residents. Combining that with quality internet have helped successfully drive both businesses.”

Both providers are part of their parent company Boston Omaha Broadband, an Omaha, NE-based private equity firm. According to Elkins, Boston Omaha has invested in several ISPs mostly serving the Western part of the United States with Fiber Fast Homes serving Texas and Florida.

“Boston Omaha has been very supportive of both AireBeam and Utah Broadband,” Elkins pointed out on the podcast. “I wouldn’t be able to drive both companies as effectively without their aid and involvement.”  To learn more about Ben’s experience and advice on marketing strategies for ISP’s, listen to Connected Nation’s latest episode here.
